Wire Harness Progress

Well, I made some progress on the wire harness this weekend.  About 8 hours spent working, but I finished sorting out the engine-to-frame connector re-pinning.  That's complete.  Next I need to complete the circuit re-routing from the Relay Box to the engine.  Then, I'll solder everything together, put it into place, and do a full function test (which will include firing the engine for the first time!).  My plan is to complete that by next weekend - I'll have to post some video of the engine start.

Once that's complete, I'll have to pull the harness back out to install the engine harness quick disconnect coupler(s) and wrap everything up nicely.

Here's how I spent my weekend.  240sx FSM on the floor + Silvia FSM on the computer + Google Doc connector pinout comparison = FUN!

All done. (I finished the soldering after the picture.)

Blitz Realize TT-R Exhaust Install

After patiently waiting for 3 months, the exhaust finally showed up today at work.  After getting home, I unwrapped it for inspection.  Result?  Complete Stainless hotness, as expected.  The only thing that I wasn't 100% impressed with were the welds.  MIG?  Back in the day, Tom could have thrown down some tight TIG welds, which was what I was hoping for.  But, you can't have it all.

DME Test Pipe (Cat Delete)

I wasn't in the mood to waste any more time - it was going on today.  The install itself wasn't really too bad.  Jamie recommended moistening the mount rubbers with soapy water to ease the install, which worked really well.  Without much of a fight, I got all the parts into place.  I do need to order 2 more mounts to complete the install, so I left the rear of the car on jack stands.  On to the pictures...

Weekend and Wire Harness Update

Mr. Szelag made a visit this weekend to lend a hand on the 240.  On Saturday, we made some final trimming on the front bumper to clear the intercooler, and bolted on the headlights.  The pictures are from the workspace at my new apartment.

On Sunday, we focused on the wire harness.  I got some progress made on the Cabin/Engine connector, and Tom did some research for the engine harness quick-disconnect (which will be really nice if we can get it to work out).  Here's Tom in action...

Blitz SUS Power Intake Install

Boom.  After a slight part number mixup, Mike at FRSport got me hooked up with the correct Blitz SUS Power Intake system.  It arrived on Thursday, and consists of the ultra-fine stainless steel mesh filter, mounting adapter and hardware.  The flow rate is supposedly the highest on the market, and cleaning is as simple as removing the filter and rinsing with water.  No oil application necessary.  I think it looks pretty great too, but I'll let the pictures do the talking.

You might notice, I also finished up the intercooler piping by adding a 90 degree silicone elbow.
